2011 Calendar for Gafoors, Guyana

An unexpected Christmas Bonus.

Twelve of my images from Guyana, all taken in the Rupununi during 2010, have been chosen to be used in the Gafoors 2011 calendar.  Gafoors are Guyana's largest manufacturers and suppliers of building materials.

With a print run of 10,000 calendars this is probably going to make the photos on this calendar my most widely distributed photos so far.

However - they're only going to be available in Guyana...  Shame!

Fireworks at Blackheath, London

Since returning from Guyana at the beginning of November I've not been taking any photos (other than a few basic handheld shots of the Blackheath Fireworks on Bonfire Night) .  It's good to have a break, for me and for my equipment (most of which is at Fixation in London being repaired or cleaned).

I'm not planning on staying in hibernation mode for ever.  December is the month to make plans and decide what photography is for me and what I'm going to do with it in the future.

If nothing else, I'll restart a photo a day project for 2011.  It will be interesting to see whether the project is easier or more difficult on home turf.

And to keep me busy for the rest of November I've got a whole lot of organising to carry out on my Guyana photos.

Unless it snows - then I'll be out with the camera and cold fingers!

Environmental Photographer of the Year Competition 2010

The book of winning entries and highly commended images from the 2010 EPOTY competition is now available.  I wasn't really that sure about this image, and felt it was the weakest I submitted, but I have to admit it looks ok in the book and does help to tell a bit of the story.  I've got a few images set aside for 2011, but as they are introducing new categories, and also for good habit, I should really get out and take some fresh ones!  So maybe for 2011 it will be a photo taken in the UK...   B-)
